How did Easter creep up so fast this year?! I'm still working through my list of Alternative Pancake day recipes.

Here are some quick and easy Easter Egg shaped Mandalas I whipped up in a couple of hours while Mr B single-handedly saved New York City in his latest XBox One obsession game, Tom Clancy's 'The Division'.

True Love = Geek Love

You can use these as either placemats, tablemats and coasters for your Easter table or string together and make cute Easter Egg garlands and flags for your Easter Egg Hunt decorations.

. I used these sweet little wooden floral print pegs from +Poundland.

I made these mandalas using a 4.5 mm hook and DK yarn by Stylecraft,  +Poundland and +Hobbycraft Northampton

Details of the stitches used on each round are underneath in both UK and US crochet terms.

For the large size (7 inches x 8 inches approx) Easter Egg Mandala pattern:

Round 1: Start with a magic loop and chain 3 - this counts as your 1st treble (US double). 11 trebles (US double) into the loop and join with slip stitch. Tighten loop and weave in ends.

Round 2: One bobble stitch and ch. 3 into every other chain space - this gives you 6 flower petals.

Round 3: Cast on and 4 double (US single) into the first chain space, another 4 double crochets (US single) into the next chain space.
At the 3rd chain space, crochet 1 double (US single), 2 htc (US hdc) crochets, and 3 trebles (US double).
In the 4th chain space, one treble, 3 double-trebles (US treble) and another 1 treble.
In the 5th chain space, 1 treble (US double), 2 htc (US hdc), and 1 double (US single) crochet. 4 dc's (US single) into each of the last 2 chain spaces.

Don't worry if your work starts to take on a 3D shape, this is corrected in round 6 and makes your flower 'pop' when the Easter Egg mandala is complete.

Round 4; 1 htc (US hdc) into each chain space

Round 5:  Treble crochet into each chain space except when you reach the 'peak' of the egg, put one treble (US double) and one double-treble (US treble) into each of the top 2 chain spaces.

Round 6: 2 double (US single) crochets into each chain space

Round 7: Cast on at the very top of your 'egg' and make a puff stitch. Chain 3 and make another puff stitch into the same chain space. Follow with  Puff stitch and chain 3 in every other chain space

Round 8: 4 trebles (US double) and ch 1 into each space

Round 9: Cast on into any chain space and make a double crochet (US single) and chain 5. Repeat dc and ch 5 all the way around in each space.

Round 10: into each space work the following stitches: 1 dc (US single), 1 htc (US hdc), 4 treble (US double) crochet, 1 htc (hdc) and 1 double (US single) crochet

Cast off using slip stitch and weave in ends.
