If you can crochet a Granny Square, you can make a hexagon... it's just 6 tc (US dc) shells for corners per round instead of 4. Simple. This tutorial is written not in crochet 'algebra' with abbreviations as it is aimed at beginners, but if you prefer traditional more complex patterns, why not check out my collection of over 35 Mandala Monday free crochet patterns? How to Crochet the Granny Hexagon:

Round 1:

With yarn A, magic loop and chain 3 - this counts as your first treble (US double) crochet.

Make another 2 trebles into the loop and chain 2.

Crochet 3 trebles  (US double) into the loop and chain 2.

Repeat until you have 6 clusters, end with a chain 2 and join with slip stitch.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 2:

Join your next colour yarn into any ch-2 space and repeat the 3 treble, 2 ch, 3 treble crochet into the same space. There's another corner.

Chain 1 and make a treble (US double) cluster into the next space followed by chain 1.

Repeat all the way around, putting 2 treble clusters into each corner.

Fasten off with slip stitch and weave in ends.

Round 3:

Join your 3rd colour yarn into a corner space and repeat the 3 treble, 2 ch, 3 treble crochet into the same space.

As in Round 2 repeat the pattern of 3 trebles and chain 1 (or 2 in the corners) just as when you crochet a Granny Square.

Fasten off with slip stitch and weave in ends.

How to turn your awesome Crochet Granny Hexagon into Bohemian Interior Design wall art:

With a contrasting colour, I used King Cole's fabulous Neon DK in delicious Bubblegum, sew your hexagon onto the stick or twig in loose loops using your needle.

Add a bunch of nice thick tassels in each chain space along the bottom side of the Granny Hexagon.

I usually just wrap the yarn over my hand but you can also use a piece of cardboard.

These tassles are 16 strands thick.

Add another two tassels to the middle chain spaces on either side.

Trim into a nice V shape and you are almost done.

To finish the project, take another length of yarn, around 25 cm long and wrap one end around the stick a few times and tie in a tight knot.

Repeat on the other side. This makes your hanger.
