How to crochet a Shamrock Clover for St. Patricks Day - free crochet pattern




4.5mm hook
DK yarn

Crochet terms in UK terms throughout and US in brackets in the abbreviations below! Enjoy! 

Abbreviations: 

tc = treble crochet (US double) 
dc = double crochet (US single) 
htc = half treble crochet  (US hdc = half double crochet) 
ch = chain 
st sp = stitch space - space between stitches 
ss = slip stitch 

FO = fasten off 


R1: Magic loop, ch6 as 1st dc plus ch5. 
(dc, ch5, dc) into the loop twice more. Join with ss, 

R2: Ch1 as 1st dc. 
(2htc, 3tc, dtc, tc, htc, tc, dtc, 3tc, 2htc) into ch-5 sp.
Repeat [(dc, 2htc, 3tc, dtc, tc, htc, tc, dtc, 3tc, 2htc, dc)] into each ch-5 sp to end. Join with ss. 

R3: ss into centre of magic loop, ch5. 
Htc into 2nd ch from hook, dc into next 3 ch. Join with ss and FO.




R4. Join new yarn into back loops only of any centre R2 htc. ch3 as 1st dc plus ch2. 
Miss 5 st, (3tc, ch2, 3tc) into next sp.  Ch2.
Repeat [dc, ch2, (3tc, ch2, 3tc), ch2] around work evenly to end. Join with ss and FO.

R5 - 13: Join new yarn into any ch-2 corner space. Ch3 as 1st tc. 
(2tc, ch2, 3tc) into same ch-2 sp.
(3tc) into next ch-sp.
Repeat around work as per regular granny square. At the end of each round, join with ss and FO. 






Turn into potholders, blankets, cushions...
